12 Trong lúc đó, Đức Chúa Jêsus đi lên núi để cầu-nguyện; và thức thâu đêm cầu-nguyện Đức Chúa Trời.13 Đến sáng ngày, Ngài đòi môn-đồ đến, chọn mười hai người gọi là sứ-đồ:14 Si-môn, Ngài đặt tên là Phi-e-rơ, Anh-rê em ruột của Phi-e-rơ, Gia-cơ và Giăng, Phi-líp và Ba-thê-lê-my,15 Ma-thi‑ơ, và Thô-ma, Gia-cơ con của A‑phê, Si-môn gọi là Xê-lốt,16 Giu-đe con của Gia-cơ, và Giu-đa Ích-ca-ri-ốt là kẻ phản Ngài.

13 And he went up on the mountain and called to him those whom he desired, and they came to him.14 And he appointed twelve (whom he also named apostles) so that they might be with him and he might send them out to preach15 and have authority to cast out demons.16 He appointed the twelve: Simon (to whom he gave the name Peter);17 James the son of Zebedee and John the brother of James (to whom he gave the name Boanerges, that is, Sons of Thunder);18 Andrew, and Philip, and Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas, and James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus, and Simon the Cananaean,19 and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him.

1 Đức Chúa Jêsus gọi mười hai môn-đồ đến, ban quyền-phép trừ tà-ma, và chữa các thứ tật-bịnh.2 Tên mười hai sứ-đồ như sau nầy: Sứ-đồ thứ nhứt là Si-môn, cũng gọi là Phi-e-rơ, và Anh-rê là em người; Gia-cơ con của Xê-bê-đê, và Giăng là em Gia-cơ;3 Phi-líp cùng Ba-tê-lê-my; Thô-ma, và Ma-thi‑ơ là người thâu thuế; Gia-cơ con của A‑phê, cùng Tha-đê;4 Si-môn là người Ca-na-an, cùng Giu-đa Ích-ca-ri-ốt, là kẻ phản Đức Chúa Jêsus.
