37 Đức Chúa Jêsus đương phán, có một người Pha-ri-si mời Ngài về nhà dùng bữa. Ngài vào ngồi bàn.38 Người Pha-ri-si thấy Ngài không rửa trước bữa ăn, thì lấy làm lạ.39 Nhưng Chúa phán rằng: Hỡi các ngươi là người Pha-ri-si, các ngươi rửa sạch bề ngoài chén và mâm, song bề trong đầy sự trộm-cướp và điều dữ.40 Hỡi kẻ dại-dột! Đấng đã làm nên bề ngoài, há không làm nên bề trong nữa sao?41 Thà các ngươi lấy của mình có mà bố-thí, thì mọi điều sẽ sạch cho các ngươi.42 Song khốn cho các ngươi, người Pha-ri-si, vì các ngươi, nộp một phần mười về bạc-hà, hồi-hương, cùng mọi thứ rau, còn sự công-bình và sự kính-mến Đức Chúa Trời, thì các ngươi bỏ qua! Ấy là các việc phải làm, mà cũng không nên bỏ qua các việc khác.43 Khốn cho các ngươi, người Pha-ri-si, vì các ngươi ưa ngôi cao nhứt trong nhà hội, và thích người ta chào mình giữa chợ!44 Khốn cho các ngươi, vì các ngươi giống như mả loạn, người ta bước lên trên mà không biết!45 Một thầy dạy luật bèn cất tiếng nói rằng: Thưa thầy, thầy nói vậy cũng làm sỉ-nhục chúng tôi.46 Đức Chúa Jêsus đáp rằng: Khốn cho các ngươi nữa, là thầy dạy luật, vì các ngươi chất cho người ta gánh nặng khó mang, mà tự mình thì không động ngón tay đến!47 Khốn cho các ngươi, vì các ngươi xây mồ-mả các đấng tiên-tri mà tổ-phụ mình đã giết!48 Như vậy, các ngươi làm chứng và ưng-thuận việc tổ-phụ mình đã làm; vì họ đã giết các đấng tiên-tri, còn các ngươi lại xây mồ cho.49 Vậy nên, sự khôn-ngoan của Đức Chúa Trời đã phán rằng: Ta sẽ sai đấng tiên-tri và sứ-đồ đến cùng chúng nó; chúng nó sẽ giết kẻ nầy, bắt-bớ kẻ kia,50 hầu cho huyết mọi đấng tiên-tri đổ ra từ khi sáng-thế, cứ dòng-dõi nầy mà đòi,51 là từ huyết A‑bên cho đến huyết Xa-cha-ri đã bị giết giữa khoảng bàn-thờ và đền-thờ; phải, ta nói cùng các ngươi, sẽ cứ dòng-dõi nầy mà đòi huyết ấy.52 Khốn cho các ngươi, là thầy dạy luật, vì các ngươi đã đoạt lấy chìa khóa của sự biết, chính mình không vào, mà người khác muốn vào, lại ngăn-cấm không cho!53 Khi Đức Chúa Jêsus ra khỏi đó rồi, các thầy thông-giáo và người Pha-ri-si bèn ra sức ép Ngài dữ-tợn, lấy nhiều câu hỏi khêu-chọc Ngài,54 và lập mưu để bắt-bẻ lời nào từ miệng Ngài nói ra.
Mark 7
1 Now when the Pharisees gathered to him, with some of the scribes who had come from Jerusalem,2 they saw that some of his disciples ate with hands that were defiled, that is, unwashed.3 (For the Pharisees and all the Jews do not eat unless they wash their hands, holding to the tradition of the elders,4 and when they come from the marketplace, they do not eat unless they wash. And there are many other traditions that they observe, such as the washing of cups and pots and copper vessels and dining couches.)5 And the Pharisees and the scribes asked him, “Why do your disciples not walk according to the tradition of the elders, but eat with defiled hands?”6 And he said to them, “Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written, “‘This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me;7 in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’8 You leave the commandment of God and hold to the tradition of men.”9 And he said to them, “You have a fine way of rejecting the commandment of God in order to establish your tradition!10 For Moses said, ‘Honor your father and your mother’; and, ‘Whoever reviles father or mother must surely die.’11 But you say, ‘If a man tells his father or his mother, “Whatever you would have gained from me is Corban”’ (that is, given to God) —12 then you no longer permit him to do anything for his father or mother,13 thus making void the word of God by your tradition that you have handed down. And many such things you do.”14 And he called the people to him again and said to them, “Hear me, all of you, and understand:15 There is nothing outside a person that by going into him can defile him, but the things that come out of a person are what defile him.”17 And when he had entered the house and left the people, his disciples asked him about the parable.18 And he said to them, “Then are you also without understanding? Do you not see that whatever goes into a person from outside cannot defile him,19 since it enters not his heart but his stomach, and is expelled?” (Thus he declared all foods clean.)20 And he said, “What comes out of a person is what defiles him.21 For from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery,22 coveting, wickedness, deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride, foolishness.23 All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person.”
Matthew 11
20 Then he began to denounce the cities where most of his mighty works had been done, because they did not repent.21 “Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty works done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.22 But I tell you, it will be more bearable on the day of judgment for Tyre and Sidon than for you.23 And you, Capernaum, will you be exalted to heaven? You will be brought down to Hades. For if the mighty works done in you had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day.24 But I tell you that it will be more tolerable on the day of judgment for the land of Sodom than for you.”25 At that time Jesus declared, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to little children;26 yes, Father, for such was your gracious will.27 All things have been handed over to me by my Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.28 Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
Matthew 15
1 Then Pharisees and scribes came to Jesus from Jerusalem and said,2 “Why do your disciples break the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat.”3 He answered them, “And why do you break the commandment of God for the sake of your tradition?4 For God commanded, ‘Honor your father and your mother,’ and, ‘Whoever reviles father or mother must surely die.’5 But you say, ‘If anyone tells his father or his mother, “What you would have gained from me is given to God,”6 he need not honor his father.’ So for the sake of your tradition you have made void the word of God.7 You hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy of you, when he said:8 “‘This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me;9 in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’”10 And he called the people to him and said to them, “Hear and understand:11 it is not what goes into the mouth that defiles a person, but what comes out of the mouth; this defiles a person.”12 Then the disciples came and said to him, “Do you know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this saying?”13 He answered, “Every plant that my heavenly Father has not planted will be rooted up.14 Let them alone; they are blind guides. And if the blind lead the blind, both will fall into a pit.”15 But Peter said to him, “Explain the parable to us.”16 And he said, “Are you also still without understanding?17 Do you not see that whatever goes into the mouth passes into the stomach and is expelled?18 But what comes out of the mouth proceeds from the heart, and this defiles a person.19 For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false witness, slander.20 These are what defile a person. But to eat with unwashed hands does not defile anyone.”
